Interesting People #26: Steven Winder from Clue IQ

A good escape room is magical. Earlier this week, the WFRE DJ team got to take on one of the rooms at Clue IQ: An Escape Room Experience. We all had a blast, and that had everything to do with the mind of this episode’s guest. Steven Winder is the “everything” of Clue IQ. This podcast touches on his background, the factors that make Clue IQ special, and fun facts about escape culture.

Don’t miss it!

{Tom’s Take} Repo Madness by W. Bruce Cameron Review

This book is written by the same guy who wrote the original book that “8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter”, the TV show, was based on.

Cameron also wrote A Dogs Purpose that came out in theater’s last Christmas starring Dennis Quade.

I got this book simply because of the Bassett hound on the cover. That’s Jake, the side-kick of Ruddy McCann, his owner, who is a repo man with mental health issues.

They repossess vehicles, boats and RVs in Northern Michigan while solving problems for the people the meet along the way.

This is a heartwarming, hilarious read, that is a solid thriller with great characters and according to Mr. Cameron, the book is coming to prime TV on your set.

Available now, The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man is out, a continuing story of Ruddy and Jake and their adventures.

If you enjoyed A Dog’s Purpose, you can also look for A Dog’s Way Home and The Dogs of Christmas.

Let me know your thoughts!

Upside Down Christmas Trees Trending

Why not flip your tree upside down this year?! Give it a spin and hang it from the ceiling!

These trees are becoming more popular this year and you can get them anywhere! Walmart, Home Depot- pretty much everywhere has the upside down.

You can either mount your tree to the ceiling so it hangs, or buy an artificial tree that’s designed to stand upside-down.

According to the Kansas City Star, the reason for the flipped tree could be for two different reasons…

“Well, if you’re into serious religious symbolism, the upside-down tree is big in central and Eastern Europe because people think it resembles the shape of Jesus on the cross.  Or if you’re more into aesthetics, the upside-down tree shows off your ornaments better, because they’re dangling into the air, not being covered up by thicker branches underneath.”

What do you think?!

Interesting People #25: Walter Olson – Cato Institute

I have heard of Think Tanks, but I didn’t have any idea what they do and what they are. Fortunately, I bumped into Walter Olson from The Cato Institute (a DC libertarian think tank) while I was wandering around downtown. The good news is that he was willing to teach a total stranger about Think Tanks.

This episode covers the current state of Think Tanks, how social media has changed their output of Think Tanks, and we eventually get to Walter’s background.
