Do Your Kids Wear Their Winter Coats To School?

The official start of winter is right around the corner, but according to meteorologists, cold temperatures are in our forecast!

coats-1

To keep our kids safe and healthy, parents go out and buy them warm coats for protection from the cold temperatures and bone chilling winds.  We think our kids are going to wear them to the bus and to school, but then get a shock when we find those warm coats are still in the closet and not being used!

Has this happened to you?  It has with my daughter and son!  They claim they get too hot on the bus with their coat and that there is no room in their locker. Really! I wonder why I spend so much money on winter coats they do not wear.  It’s not just high school or college kids, either; young children are now trying to go without jackets.

As parents-what should we do? Not buy them or start a nice collection of kids winter coats?

Best Places To Hike In Mid-Maryland!

The election is over! Now it’s time to ‘unwind’ and enjoy the scenery.  We are blessed to live in a beautiful area with many places to hike.

Maryland Heights is said to be a must-do for most hikers.  The hike offers a spectacular view of historic Harpers Ferry.  From the main overlook and you can see Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia.

Many families visit Sugar Loaf Mountain.  This area is a registered natural landmark and full of wildlife and stunning views.

Another popular location to hike is the Catoctin Mountain Park.  It has 25 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous. A favorite spot among locals is Chimney Rock, perfect for a seat with a view.

The Billy Goat Trail is one of the most well known hikes in the area.  The trail offers stunning views of the Potomac River.  The trail is made up of 3 separate sections A, B, & C, that start and finish on the C&O Canal.

Another must hike in Maryland is along the 40-miles of the Appalachian Trail.  The popular trail includes picturesque Annapolis Rock in Washington County.

With so many unbelievable places to hike in the Maryland, why go anywhere else!
