Six Months To Go = Crunch Time Begins

Hey guys!! I had a fun, family-filled Christmas and New Years and I hope all of you did, too!! Now, it’s time to buckle down and get all the wedding details, that I’ve put to the side over the past month, checked off my list!

You may have heard, one day while I was in the studio, Brian Mo and I were talking about my Save the Date fiasco. It’s funny, really. I ordered them online using my own design and it said they’d be delivered in two weeks. Perfect! Because I was planning on getting them sent out the first week of January. So, while I was in the studio, my fiance, Tim, text me and said they came in the mail. I was soooo excited! Until…he sent me a picture and it was the William’s Family Christmas card. Adorable picture, but not mine! So, I called the company and they quickly sent me the correct save the dates! Yay!!

I am trying to stay up with my wedding check-list, but I just feel like i’m either behind or other people that are getting married next year are way overachievers!

Important things that I still need to do: find invitations and get those ordered, find a videographer that isn’t crazy expensive!! $3,000 just isn’t in the budget :/  Also, I need to meet with the florist from the church that we are getting married at and another florist that will do all the other wedding flowers for the reception. And then the cake….tastings are so much fun, but I need to get that figured out, too! Luckily, my wedding planner, Jill is helping to keep me focused.

BUT, I do have two very exciting things coming up this month! I got a text from J.J. at TLC Bridal Boutique in Downtown Frederick and she told me my wedding gown will be in next week! eek!! I can’t wait to see it and try it on again. That also means, that we can look at matching veils and order that. I also have my eye on a gorgeous hair clip that I’m hoping to get when i’m back in the store.

Later this month, we are having the party for Tim’s groomsmen. They will be coming over to the house for their M. Stein Tuxedo fitting and I thought, why not make a party out of it and invite everyone’s other half, too! That will be fun to see all the guys in the suits that we’ve picked out and get an idea of the big picture! Especially, how handsome Tim will look!!

Oh, and we got our registries started at Macy’s and Crate& Barrel. I can’t wait to pick out some cute things 🙂

I can’t believe we are only 6 months out! Wedding diet has begun (and new year’s resolution) and I am ready to kick this weddings plannings butt! (in a good way) 🙂

Milk, Bread, Toilet Paper – Snow is In The Forecast!

The National Weather Service say we could be receiving up to 2 inches of snow by Friday morning.  It’s this type of forecast that sends people to grocery stores to stock up on the essentials like milk, bread, and toilet paper.

Why do we flee to grocery stores to get these three items.  According to Accuweather.com, New Englanders can take credit for the tradition of purchasing of milk and break prior to a storm.  “It was the monumental blizzard in 1978 that trapped many in homes for weeks that gets at least some credit for the current tradition,” the site reported.

Are we over reacting or just being extra cautious?

The Maryland State Highway Administration has their trucks out in full force pre-treating local roads with liquid salt brine.  This is to prevent snow and ice from bonding to the pavement.

Does all this pre-storm hype send you fleeing to the store in fear of running ‘out’ essentials? Or do you laugh in the face of mother nature and say ‘bring it on’?

Goals vs Resolutions

Dianah had a fun post on the Wake Up Crew blog this morning about popular New Years Resolutions. She also noted that less than 10% of people actually keep them. I think the reason that most resolutions fail is because they are too vague. That is why I love this quote from Tim McGraw

“I think you set one goal, and that’s to do the best you can. No matter what my project is for that day, whether I’m goin’ to write a song or takin’ the kids to school, is to try to do the best I can at it. I can’t think about what the end results gonna be of it. I gotta think about what I’m gonna do when I go in there that day to do it. And if I’m successful, then the end result is gonna be success.”

I don’t plan on doing a goal a day, but wanted to set a few public goals people can mock me about if I don’t hit them!

  1. Do a Half Marathon under 2.5 Hours. (My best is 3 hours 5 minutes)
  2. Sign up for the 60 mile Tour de Frederick Ride! (I have only done 30 mile rides)
  3. Bowl a strike this weekend at the Fight for Kathryn Bowl-A-Thon!

I need to get back to the YMCA to make 1 & 2 happen!

New Years Resolutions! Still Keeping Yours?

2017 has finally arrived!  So many of us made resolutions.  Now that it is January 4th – have you kept yours?  About 45 % of Americans make New Years Resolutions and only 8 % are successful. But there is good news for those who make resolutions. Officials say people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t make resolutions!

It’s Bachelor Time!

Mondays have become my favorite day of the week.  If its not The Voice, it’s Monday Night Football.  If it’s not Monday Night Football it’s The Bachelor! Yay!!! The Bachelor is back!

I cant imagine watching The Bachelor and not being a fan of “The Bachelor”, not being completely smitten.  I mean, come on, that’s part of the fantasy, part of the romance, part of the fun.  I wasn’t a Nick Viall fan but my assistant Melissa convinced me to watch with an open mind.  If she (the biggest skeptic I know) could find good in Nick then something’s gotta be there.  So with great anticipation, Monday night at 8pm finally arrived!  My daughter and I snuggled up to see if Nick was gonna make this season worth watching.  He’s kinda cute- OK after the shower scene we’ll upgrade the to HOT! He’s smart- he knows the difference between a shark and a dolphin (what was she thinking?!).  And he totally called out Liz (good job Nick) the chick he met at Jade and Tanners wedding- I would’ve sent her home that night but maybe she’s gonna be the crazy entertainment this season.  Who “bakes cookies” with Nick- Doesn’t give him her number when he asks for it and doesn’t contact him for 9 months??? Yeah, she’s crazy!!  Can you tell I’m officially now a fan of Nick Viall.  This season is gonna be awesome!

New Face!

I was joking around during New Year’s Eve saying that I am the new face you don’t see for nights at WFRE. A few friends joked that just “new face” fits me since I changed faces last year. What do you think of the 2016 model of Patrick Hanes? Should I bring back the goatee?
