‘Woman-Only’ Screening of Wonder Woman Created Drama

The much anticipated block buster ‘Wonder Woman’ was released in theaters on June 2nd! Before the big day, some theaters held ‘women only’ screenings and that didn’t sit well with some men.

Those men in opposition claimed it is selective equality.  Some women who attended say it was the best movie experience they ever had.

I would love to go to a ‘woman’s only’ viewing of a movie like Wonder Woman.  Its about comradery and women being strong for other women.  Plus you don’t have to share the popcorn!

{Good News} College Student Stuck On Subway Gets Impromptu Graduation

STUDENT STUCK ON SUBWAY FINALLY RECEIVES HIS DIPLOMA

A college student in New York City finally received his diploma after he got stuck on a stalled subway and missed his graduation.

Last week, Jerich Alcantara was riding an E train dressed in his cap and gown on his way to Hunter College for his commencement ceremony. But the train got stuck in a tunnel for two hours and he wasn’t able to make it in time.

But while the subway was delayed, Jerich’s fellow frustrated passengers did an amazing thing. They rallied together to give the 22-year-old nursing student an impromptu ceremony, complete with a mock diploma. The ceremony was captured on video.

Jerich did finally get his real diploma last Thursday. Hunter College heard all about his unfortunate commute and invited him in for a private commencement ceremony. They even sent a car for him so that he wouldn’t have to risk getting stuck on the subway. He also received a $500 scholarship to help him prepare for his nursing exams. (NY Daily News)

My totally rad day at River & Trail Outfitters

I got to spend an amazing morning and afternoon at River & Trail Outfitters today. They were celebrating their 45th community day! Everyone had a blast tubing, eating hot dogs and enjoying the rock wall. I failed to climb the wall on camera (my camera man fell too), but we were able to climb to the top once the pressure was gone. I don’t have bragging rights anymore. However, I challenge everyone to send me a photo if they beat the wall on the first try!

My personal highlight happened after we went off the air. Tiggy and I got an invite to kayak! Nothing like an hour out on the river.

I will be posting photos tomorrow!

Check out that huge house I was in on Saturday!

I had a ton of fun exploring the giant house I was broadcasting from on Saturday with Wormald Homes and Airtron. This place was so nuts/amazing that I did a walkthrough video for fun and then found out a missed stuff! Check it out.

IT HAS A TWO WAY FIREPLACE!!!

I need to buy a top hat for the next time I work with them!

Fun stories about Luke Combs, Keith Urban & More!

LUKE COMBS: Detective Dreams

Luke Combs is one of the hottest newcomers on the radio, but he didn’t always plan on making it big in country music. In fact, the “Hurricane” singer had dreams of being a detective — but things didn’t exactly pan out.

Luke Combs “Well, I found out that I had to be a police officer for ten or so years before that, and I just didn’t think that I would necessarily have the brass to get that done. My dreams were a little bit crushed. You know, I just kind of assumed if you were intelligent and could figure things out that you could be a detective, and that necessarily wasn’t the case.”

KEITH URBAN: Compares Social Media to Being on Stage

On Wednesday night, Keith Urban walked away with four CMT Music Awards, including the Social Superstar award. So, what strategy does he follow on social media to make him the reigning Social Superstar?

Keith Urban: “Social media to me is exactly the same as being onstage. As giving and as connected and open as I am onstage, that’s how I am on social media too. They’re both the same thing to me.”

Gregg Allman Tribute

Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley kicked off last night’s CMT Music Awards with an awesome tribute to the late Gregg Allman. The three country superstars performed the legendary song “Midnight Rider.”

{Good News} A Dog’s Second Chance

photo via Facebook

An old chihuahua that was neglected and abused for many years before being abandoned is now finally getting to live the life he’s missed out on.

The 17-year-old dog, named Coffee Bean, was rescued by police who found him at a busy intersection in Miami. He was cleaned up and treated by a vet and is now finally able to live out his life in a loving home in Lakeland, Florida, and with a pretty busy schedule.

The Lakeland Police Department has gotten involved and created a lengthy bucket list of things for Coffee Bean to do. He’s gotten to climb aboard a fire truck, enjoy treats from local restaurants and was also presented with a “bone to the city” by the Lakeland City Manager.

But perhaps his biggest moment was being made an honorary K-9 by the police department. He was given a badge and allowed to check out the K-9 vehicle.

You can follow Coffee Bean’s adventures on Facebook. (WFLA-TV Tampa)

Move Over Law in Maryland – Obey It!

Officials are urging everyone to adhere to the ‘Move Over Law’ that has been in place in Maryland for the past several years.

The law requires drivers to ‘move over’ if possible.  This law aims to give extra safety to first responders, road crews, and those along the side of the road.
The law requires drivers if they are approaching emergency vehicles along the roadway, to ‘make a lane change into an available lane not immediately adjacent to the emergency vehicle’, if possible.
Motorists who cannot move over are asked to reduce their speed as much as possible.
Maryland State Police report in 2016 there were 58 incidences of MSP vehicles being struck.
