A two-year-old Detroit boy is alive thanks to his 10-year-old brother who learned CPR by watching Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson do it in the movie San Andreas.
When Jacob O’Connor saw his little brother lying face-down in their pool, he pulled him out and began doing chest compressions, which he remembered seeing Johnson’s character doing in a scene from the movie.
Johnson heard about this story in the news and is hailing Jacob as a hero. He tweeted, “Real life hero 10-year-old old Jacob O’Connor found his 2-year-old brother, Dylan lying face down in their pool. Amazing story. Amazing boy. Thank you media friends for covering such an inspiring story. What a brave (and calm) 10-year-old old boy in the face of that heightened distress.”
Dylan spent a day in the hospital and was sent home. He’s expected to be fine. (Hollywood Reporter)
Floyd Mayweather wagered on himself the day of the fight.
The boxer told ESPN how he attempted to place 400-grand on winning in 10 rounds or less, which he did. However, the casino refused his money. It’s unethical for an athlete to wager on their own event, even in cases where they bet on a victory.
However, Nevada state law does not forbid fighters from betting on themselves.
So just hours before the fight, Mayweather handed 400-grand in cash to one of his Money Team members. He walked into a different place but they wouldn’t allow him to wager all of it. Instead, the sportsbook took “only” 87-grand on Mayweather to finish the fight under 10 rounds.

Sadly, two U.S. Navy sailors missing from the USS John McCain are from Maryland.
On Thursday the Navy reported Kevin Sayer Bushell and Timothy Thomas Eckels Jr. were among the missing sailors aboard the USS McCain.
Bushell, 26, is an electronics technician 2nd Class. He graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 2009.
Eckels, 23, is an information systems technician 2nd Class. He graduated from Manchester Valley High School in 2012.
On Monday the destroyer collided with an oil tanker near Singapore.
The Navy on Thursday called off the search at sea for the missing sailors, but said divers will continue to search flooded compartments inside the USS John S. McCain.
It was a shocking video that has gone viral. Cheerleaders at East High School in Denver were forced into splits during cheer camp as they screamed in pain.
Now the girl who spoke out about this alleged abuse says she is being cyberbullied.
Ally Wakefield took videos of herself and fellow cheerleaders being forced into splits by coach Ozell Williams. The coach pushes the girls down while they are screaming in pain and asking him to stop.
Ally showed her mom, Kirtsen Wakefield, the videos. They went to school administrators in June.
Police are investigating this as possible child abuse.
Ally says she’s now being cyber bullied because she spoke out about the abuse. Cyberbullies have told her to kill herself and say she is lying about her injuries.
Kirsten said doctors believe her daughter tore muscle tissue and may have pulled her hamstring.
Denver school officials report the principal, assistant principal, coach Ozell Williams, and the assistant cheer coach have been placed on leave during the investigation.
Investigators say the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
Hagerstown, Md (KM). The American Red Cross is continuing its efforts to assist the victims of an apartment building fire in Hagerstown Tuesday night.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says about 100 fire fighters responded to 11565 Robinwood Drive just outside of the Hagerstown city limits, and spent 90-minutes bringing the flames under control. The three-story building contained 37 units.
All 74 residents were able to get out safely after notifying each other and the activation of a fire alarms. One person was treated and released for a pre-existing condition.
Investigators confirmed that lightning struck the roof of the apartment building, which set the roof and attic on fire. The fire was contained to the roof and attic, but they collapsed on the third floor. The first and second floors sustained water damage.
Beverly Stambaugh, the Executive Director of the Western Maryland Chapter of the Red Cross, saw the damaged apartment building on Wednesday. “Pretty much the whole top floor was burned off. Pretty dramatic. Surprisingly, the whole face of the building looks pretty good. But once you take a good look you’ll see the entire third floor is gone. Quite a big hole in the building,” she says.
The Red Cross says it was notified about the fire at around 8:49 PM on Tuesday. Stambaugh says personnel went right to work assisting the 74 residents who were displaced. “Mostly to do with housing for the evening, and any type of emergency services they may need, such as a little health kit or any type of information they might need to get through the next 24-hours,” she says.
A “clearing house” was set up by the Red Cross at a 7th Day Adventist Church along Robinwood Drive not too far from the apartment building. Stambaugh says anyone can drop off “non-monetary” items to help the families who were displaced. “Most of the clients that were affected did have insurance. So it’s meeting their basic needs for the next two to four days, just to make sure they have what they need to get by until their insurance can kick in and replace and get them back on their feet,” she says.
The Red Cross will also help connect these families with the services they need. “Whether they need clothing for their children, or they’re looking for another place to live, we will help connect them with resources in the community for housing and/or for clothing, or for any other assistance they may need,” says Stambaugh.
Because the loss of a home can be very traumatic emotionally, Stambaugh says the Red Cross can provide them with mental health services. “We have quite a few individuals who are trained, mental health caseworkers, who deal specifically with these types of incidents where individuals may have a longer impact mentally, emotionally, that might need assistance,” she says. “And we actually have trained staff that will speak and work with these clients to get them back on their feet and meet their needs.”
Stambaugh says some Red Cross volunteers from Frederick County also responded to this apartment building fire to provide assistance.
Anyone who wants to volunteer for the Red Cross, or wants to help out in other ways, can call 1-800-REDCROSS.
