VIDEO: Lighting the Night

I was the emcee for the Frederick Light the Night Walk this weekend. It was an amazing event. Here is a quick clip of everyone lighting their lanterns before the walk. It was a very powerful moment in person.

Meet Karter!

Karter had one of the white lanterns tonight. He is in remission just in time for his second birthday! He was a rock star, but wasn’t the biggest fan of the fireworks. It was amazing to meet him.

Interesting People: United Way of Frederick County

Did you know the poverty line is based on a national average and doesn’t factor in the cost of living? Enter the ALICE Report.

One of the Nymeo Random Acts of Kindness stops was dropping off lunch to the United Way of Frederick County. I did a quick video while we were there, but I completely missed out on learning about the ALICE Report.

Fortunately, Kenneth Oldham the President & CEO of United Way of Frederick County let me interview him about this new report. The ALICE Report is a difference between wanting to help and knowing how to help. We touch on the real cost of living in Frederick, the goals of UWFC, and highlight some of their partners.

Interesting People: Frederick Hops & Vines Tours

I recently got to do a private wine tour during my vacation in Canada. It was a great surprise to find out this idea has just started up in Frederick. Not only has it started up, but they are tripling down! In true Frederick spirit, Paul and Andrea are offering beer, wine, and distillery tours.

I had a ton of fun with this interview. We talk about how Paul and Andrea came up with the idea, their passion for a pure experience, and their plans for the future. There is also a lot of laughs.

Interesting People: Frederick Children’s Chorus

I was shocked to find out that The Frederick Children’s Chorus has been around since 1985! Fortunately, I was able to sit down with their Assistant Director Lee DuBose Fuhr to talk about the Chorus’ history and future.

Their mission is to make sure that every child can sing more. Everyone can use more music in their life, and this is a group of people that are working hard to make this happen. Give this episode a listen to find out how they work with kids from 3 to 18 years old!

You can hear examples of the chorus before and after this interview, but nothing can truly capture hearing them live. Their next big show is the 23rd Messiah Sing-Along at The Weinberg Center.
