Baby It’s Cold Outside!

We are in the midst of winter and it is cold!  Today’s high will be 28 degrees with an overnight low of 15 degrees.

These temperatures can be dangerous and you could suffer from hypothermia if you are outside too long and not protected from the extreme cold.

Hypothermia is when your body temperature falls from its usual temperature of around 98.6°F to below 95°F.  People are more susceptible to hypothermia if they are very young, elderly, have an under lying medical condition, consumed alcohol or drugs, or if they are unusually tired.

Hypothermia is due to the body losing heat without being able to replace it.  Some of the signs are:

Shivering

Slow, shallow breathing

Confusion and memory loss

Drowsiness or exhaustion

Slurred or mumbled speech

Loss of coordination, fumbling hands, stumbling steps

A slow, weak pulse.

In severe hypothermia, a person may be unconscious without obvious signs of breathing or a pulse

Medical experts say if someone is suffering from these symptoms – call 911 right away.

On a good note, spring arrives on March 20, 2017.  The Farmers Almanac says April and May will be rainier than normal.

You can skip to 2:35 for the updates! Start at the start for weight loss stories and other silly jokes. This is very silly.

Netflix made a DVD app…what

Picture of Popcorn

Turns out that millions of people still get DVDs from Netflix. In fact, there are so many people getting DVDs that Netflix has created a new app called DVD Netflix that lets you sort your queue on the go.

I am a big ball of nostalgia and confusion right now. Do you use Netflix? Do you still get DVDs in the mail from them? What about Redbox?

I added a poll to my sidebar to collect this data. I have to know. I need to know. 10 points to anyone who gets the Qwikster joke without google.

A 105 year old cyclist set a world record

This a story that will either inspire you to get in shape or make you stress eat a scone. Robert Marchand, a 105-year-old french cyclist managed to bike 14 miles in one hour. Not only did he set a world record, but he talked mess in the post-ride interview. He told reports that he could have done better and boasted that he is waiting for a rival. Too bad he will have to wait till 2085 before I can compete in the 100+ category!

Robert Marchand, a 105-year-old french cyclist managed to bike 14 miles in one hour. Not only did he set a world record, but he talked mess in the post-ride interview. He told reporters that he could have done better if he was paying more attention and boasted that he is waiting for a rival. Too bad he will have to wait till 2085 before I can compete in the 100+ category!
