Sibling Rivalry – Is It Good?

The Australian Open culminates Saturday with the final match between two sisters, Serena and Venus Williams.  This will be their first Grand Slam final against each other since Wimbledon 2009 when Serena won in straight sets.

Serena, 35, is attempting to win an Open-era record 23rd Grand Slam singles title.  Venus, 36, hopes to win an eighth major title.

Two sisters competing for one major title, sibling rivalry at its finest!

But is that type of rivalry good?

Many health experts say sibling rivalry can help brothers and sisters work through disagreements. This will help kids develop skills in problem solving.

Sibling rivalry also helps kids learn self control, listening skills, and empathy.

So how should parents handle sibling rivalry? Dianah says always treat your children equally.  Tom thinks it is best to avoid the situation and work the concession stand!

Snow – Or – Sunshine

It’s January 26th and today we are going to see to temperatures in the 50’s.  Yesterday it got up to 60-degrees!

Old man winter will be making an appearance tomorrow, when cold weather descends upon our region.

The up and down temperatures has everyone wondering, what season is it?

Health experts say cold weather is actually good for you.

Cooler temps can help you lose weight because our bodies burns more energy to keep our core temperature at 98.6 degrees. You can sleep better in colder weather, and may be able to improve your metabolism.

Did you know that our brains work better in cooler temperatures?  It’s true!  Science officials say 62 degrees is the magic number for our brain to work.

The cold weather also helps our skin.  Colder temperatures can act as an astringent.  It helps to reduce clogs and keep pores less visible and refined.

Now that there are several reasons why ‘colder temperatures’ are good for you, can you wait 53 more days for spring?

Good News: 1/25/17

Facebook is great way to get back in touch with people. Someone in Australia used it to find their hero.

In 1995, an Australian man broke his neighbor’s window and dove through flames to save a 16-month-old toddler from a house fire.

Well, that man, Mick Kelly, is now 59 and that toddler, Dylan Gibbs, is now 22 – and they were finally reunited, thanks to Facebook.

Through the years, Dylan tried to locate Mick in hopes of thanking him in person for that brave act so long ago. Dylan almost gave up hope, but a stranger finally responded to a Facebook post and gave Dylan the chance to connect with his long-lost rescuer.

The two met at a pub in Melbourne and Dyan admits he was very emotional, but was able to tell Mick thanks for saving him.

Mick said he often wondered how Dylan was doing – and was happy to see that he had grown into a good young man.

The two men now plan to stay in touch and have already arranged for Mick to attend Dylan’s 23rd birthday party in March. (Herald Sun)

It Happened Again – Guy Drops Ring On Kiss Cam

I feel so bad for this guy.  He was proposing to his girlfriend on the ‘Kiss-Cam’ when someone patted him on the back – and the guy dropped the ring!

It happened Saturday evening, January 21, 2017, at an Atlanta Hawks game.  The couple was on the “Kiss Cam,” and after a quick kiss, he got down on his knees, and started proposing.

That’s when a guy near him gave a few pats on his back and the ring is dropped!  The camera stopped rolling before we find out if the ring was ever found!  But check out this video of the girlfriend. She looks like she wants to fight the man who caused all the drama!

Dennis Quaid Talks About ‘A Dog’s Purpose’ On Ellen – Did It Help The Movie?

‘A Dog’s Purpose’ has been highly criticized over the past week after a video surfaced allegedly showing a frightened German Shepherd being forced into churning waters on the set of the movie.

Saturday’s red carpet premiere for the movie was canceled amid calls for a boycott of the film.

Ellen DeGeneres had Dennis Quaid on her show Monday to talk about ‘A Dog’s Purpose’.  She questioned him about the movie and treatment of the animals.

After watching the interview, I have more questions than answers. In my opinion – Quaid did not calm my fears about the mistreatment of Hercules or any other animal featured in the film.

Check out the interview.
