Another Warning for Parents – ‘Hot Water Challenge’!

I am shaking my head on another challenge being circulated on social media – the ‘Hot Water Challenge’.  Seriously – how can some people be so irresponsible.

This dangerous challenge is made popular by social media.  The challenge asks participants to take a container of hot, boiling water and throw it on an unsuspecting person or drink it. Many times this challenge is captured on video and uploaded onto YouTube.

Sadly, 8-year-old Ki’ari Pope from Florida died in July after drinking boiling water through a straw.  She did this on a challenge from her cousin.

On August 6th, 11-year-old Jamoneisha Merritt, from New York, was severely burned when her friends allegedly poured scalding hot water on her during a sleepover.  She is in serious but stable condition at a hospital.  Her face, neck, and shoulders are severely burned.

This horrible challenge needs to stop.  Parents talk to your kids.

Interesting People: Shaman Jon Rasmussen

I got a chance to speak with Shaman Jon Rasmussen for this episode of the Interesting People Podcast. He is Rob Lowe’s Shaman. This is a big step towards my future adoption into the Lowe family and my shot at getting on the Lowe Files TV Show.

This interview was a ton of fun. We cover how Jon became a shaman, the good he does for people, and the most hardcore style of meditation I have ever heard of.

You can find out more about Jon on his Website, Facebook, and YouTube.

Parents: WARNING About the ‘Blue Whale Challenge’

While we are trying to deal with the after-math of ’13 Reasons Why’ – now there is a new warning for parents.  Beware of ‘The ‘Blue Whale Challenge’.

I was shocked to hear about the latest morbid social media challenge called ‘The Blue whale Challenge’.  This is a sick game that targets vulnerable teens and pushes them to self-harm and ultimately, commit suicide.

Authorities say ‘The Blue Whale Challenge’ is being played by kids and adults in the UK, Russia, and India.  Now a mother in Texas says her daughter became a victim of the final challenge by taking her life on July 4, 2017.

‘The Blue Whale Challenge’ involves 50 tasks, which are given by an administrator or curator, after the teen finished the previous one.

The tasks ranged from telling the participating teen to self-harm, send photos of the same to the curator, climb a crane or ledge, not speak to anyone all day, to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to watch scary videos and listen to music the curator sends, speak to other ‘whales’ (participants) and finally, commit suicide on the 50th day.

After doing some research on this sick game, my son and I had a long talk.  Please help me to get the message out about this horrible social media challenge that is claiming too many lives.  ‘The Blue Whale Challenge’ needs to be shut down and the people who created it need to be thrown in prison!

Taylor Swift Wins Groping Case Against Denver DJ

Taylor Swift has won her groping case against a former Denver DJ.

After a week-long trial, the jury decided today (Monday) that David Mueller did indeed grab the singer’s backside four years ago and awarded the star $1.

In a prepared statement, Taylor said, (quote) “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.” (People)

The six-woman, two-man jury also found that her mother and radio liaison weren’t at fault for complaining to Mueller’s bosses, who then fired the host. He sued Taylor, her mother and their radio handler, Frank Bell, for ruining his career. On Friday, the judge dismissed the portion of Mueller’s lawsuit against Swift.

Earlier today (Monday), Taylor broke down in tears as Mueller’s lawyer showed the now-infamous photo of the groping.

Her lawyer Douglas Baldridge told the jury that her client was suing Muller for a symbolic $1 to send a message that “no means no.”

Taylor testified last week that the DJ grabbed “a handful of my ass” backstage at Denver’s Pepsi Center. (Page Six)
