{Good News} Iowa Football Fans Wave to Kids in Hospital

IOWA FOOTBALL FANS WAVE TO KIDS IN GREATEST NEW TRADITION

College football teams all have their unique traditions during games, and the University of Iowa showed last weekend that there’s always room for one more – especially one that’s so sweet.

The Hawkeyes opened their season at home with a win over Wyoming, but during the game they started an amazing new tradition.

Just across the street from Kinnick Stadium is the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. It actually overlooks the stadium, which means the kids on the higher floors can see some of the action.

So with this in mind, the 70,000 fans have decided to take a moment during each game to turn to the hospital and wave to the kids. The excited kids then wave back. (Today)

Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes are Officially an Item

There’s no hiding it anymore….Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes are together.

Unofficially, they’ve been together for years. But they’ve always kept the romance on the down-low. Reportedly, Katie’s divorce settlement with Tom Cruise forced her to stay single – at least in public – for five years. That requirement expired over the summer.

So for Labor Day, the love birds took a romantic stroll along the Malibu beach. The paparazzi was alerted and captured them flirting and holding hands.

Just two months ago, while still under the Cruise agreement, their reps claimed talk of a relationship was “categorically untrue” and a fantasy hatched by the tabloids. (TMZ)

It’s National Read A Book Day

It’s National Read A Book Day!

A day where everyone is encouraged to get a book and enjoy the day by reading.

Educational experts say reading to children is very important – so today is the perfect day to do it!

Reading helps to improve your memory and concentration as well as reduce stress.  Older adults who spend time reading participate in more mentally stimulating activities and also show a slower cognitive decline.

Maryland State Police Remind Drivers To Obey School Bus Safety Laws

Motorists Reminded Of School Bus Safety Laws As Students Head Back To Class

(PIKESVILLE, Md.) – With some students already  heading back to school, and the majority returning after Labor Day, Maryland State Police are stressing bus safety for motorists. State troopers across Maryland will be joining their local law enforcement partners in special school bus enforcement patrols during the start of this school year.

Extra patrols will be deployed on school bus routes and troopers will be specifically targeting motorists driving unsafely around school buses or ignoring the red flashing lights when a bus is stopped. Those could breaking the law by police can cost a driver a $570 fine and a three-point penalty on their driver’s license.

According to the National Research Council. more than 800 students are killed going to and from school each year. This includes 131 fatalities to pedestrians, 46 to bicyclists, five who ride school buses and 15 pedestrians at school bus stops.

The National Safety Council has compiled the following tips for sharing the road safely with school buses:

  • When driving behind a school bus, make sure to allow a greater following distance than if you were driving behind another car. This will give you more time to stop once the yellow lights begin to flash.
  • Never pass a bus from behind or from either direction if you’re on an undivided road if it is stopped to load or unload children. It is illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children.
  • If yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop sign is extended, you must stop.
  • Make sure you’ve stopped far back enough to allow children to safely enter and exit the bus. The area 10 feet surrounding a school bus is the most dangerous for children.
  • Pay attention; children can be unpredictable and tend to ignore hazards.

Here’s to a safe and fun 2017-2018 school season!

PIZZA CRIME!!!!

The Free Ride was hit by a one-two punch that no one could see coming.

Pizza’s Delivered by Boat to Residents Trapped in their Homes

Talk about Good News and some hot pizza to help make things better!

Homeowners trapped by flooded waters in Oak Lake, Texas, southwest of Houston, were in need of food. So Pizza Hut manager Shayda Willison stepped up and made pizzas to be delivered to all the homes by boat!! Talk about dedication.

120 pizzas were delivered into kayaks and brought to stuck locals. “The people in the houses didn’t expect us to come,” she said. “It was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom.”

It’s National Lazy Mom’s Day!

Moms – its finally our day! National Lazy Moms Day!

This is the one day out of the year – besides Mothers Day – that moms can just relax.

Today moms are suppose to take a break from dishes, laundry, bathroom cleaning, and car pools.

Take a break from all your normal households works and delegate!

According to B-Inspired Mama, there are many important jobs that moms perform.

14 JOBS OF A MOTHER

  1. Housekeeper – No explanation necessary for this one, right, Mamas?
  2. Nurse – Every mom has an unlimited supply of band-aids and boo-boo kisses.
  3. Teacher – A mother is a child’s first educator.
  4. Journalist – Someone has to keep up with the baby books and memory keeping.
  5. Party Planner – Mom is bound to plan a Birthday or holiday party or two… or twenty.
  6. Hostess – A mom’s often the one hosting those playdates, right?
  7. Personal Shopper – Sometimes I wish I could send the kids to the store themselves, but no. Not a good idea.
  8. Stylist – Well, if you care if your kids’ clothes match anyway. (I’m not judging if you don’t!)
  9. Spiritual Adviser – No matter which religion or spiritual direction, mom often gives spiritual direction.
  10. Psychiatrist – Mom might not really understand the psychology behind a 2 year olds’ tantrums (who does?!), but she sure tries.
  11. Taxi Driver – Who drives the kids from school to lessons to playdates?  Mom does!
  12. Secretary – Scheduling doctors’ appointments and keeping track of school events is all in a mom’s day’s work.
  13. Photographer – I don’t know any mom who hasn’t become very familiar with her camera or camera phone.
  14. Chef – Usually mom plans and cooks meals for the whole crew.
