Hurricane Irma Meets Sister Margaret Ann

Florida residents are all doing their part to clean up the mess left by Hurricane Irma, but no one is getting as much attention as a rough and tough nun with a chainsaw.

Sister Margaret Ann was spotted by a cop outside Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School in Miami clearing the roads of downed trees and limbs – and she clearly knows how to handle a chainsaw like a boss.

The officer couldn’t believe what he was seeing so he stopped to take video of her and then shared it on Twitter.

Sister Margaret Ann says, “There was a need. I had the means, so I wanted to help out.” She says others saw her and were inspired to help, and “it became a really good community project” (CBS Miami)

I want to throw axes like Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy and Jenifer Lawrence had an Axe Throwing contest. Turns out that Jimmy is scary deadly and I now have a new late night based nightmare. I also can’t help, but wonder if Colbert is any good with throwing weapons.

Where can I try this out?

{Good News} Good Neighbor Makes Special Mailbox for Blind Neighbor

A blind woman, who for years has worried about getting hit by a car while getting her mail from her curbside mailbox, no longer has to worry about that thanks to a kind neighbor’s generosity.

Lynda Tennette of Virginia contacted a local TV station for help because in order to get her mail she has to step into the street to reach inside the box.

Wesley Benton, the owner of a home improvement business, saw the report and immediately thought about his own great-grandmother who was struck by a car while getting her mail. He immediately decided to help.

So he grabbed some tools, headed over to Lynda’s house and installed a special new mailbox for her. It opens from both ends, so Lynda no longer has to step into the street to reach inside.

Lynda was shocked by the gesture and asked to give Wesley a hug to thank him. She said, “It really puts some faith back in the world.” (WTVR-TV)

X Marks the Vodka: Buried Booze

GUY SMUGGLES BOOZE INTO MUSIC FESTIVAL BY BURYING IT BEFOREHAND

Like almost all music festivals, the Electric Zoo festival in New York doesn’t allow people to bring alcohol through the front gate. But this didn’t stop a guy named Alex Diamond from getting booze through the door in an ingenious way. Alex went to the site of the festival in the middle of the night three weeks before the festival kicked off – and then buried a bottle of vodka in the dirt. During the festival, Alex strolled in empty handed, and then used his treasure map to find the bottle of booze.

This guy is in 2037 while we’re still stuck in a 2017 mindset hahahaha GENIUS.

New I-Phone X Comes with High Tech Features and a Hefty Price Tag

But what do the people think??….

So you’ve probably heard that the iPhone X [iPhone 10] was announced yesterday and that pre-order will be available at the end of October. You probably also heard that the new phone comes with a bunch of new features … and a hefty pricetag – starting at $999. Maybe it’s the high price, but according to a SurveyMonkey poll, there isn’t much interest in the new iPhones. Just 10% said they were “extremely interested”, 11% said they were “very interested” and 17% said they were “somewhat interested.” On the flip side, 35% said they “weren’t interested at all.” (USA TodayBusiness Insider) (Premiere Prep)

‘DaddyOFive’ Parents Lose Custody of Two of Their Children

Frederick, Md (KM) A husband and wife from Ijamsville who were behind the “DaddyOFive” videos posted on You Tube were sentenced on Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court. Mike and Heather Martin, both 34, entered Alford pleas to two counts each of child neglect involving two minor children. The judge imposed a 10-year sentence, but suspended that. They were given five years of supervised probation. “They also have lost custody of their minor children, ages nine and 11,” says State’s Attorney Charlie Smith. “So they were taken out of that family and put in foster care pending further proceedings.”

An Alford plea means the defendants do not admit guilt, but acknowledge the State has enough evidence for a conviction.

The Martins posted more than 300 videos on You Tube which showed their kids, Cody and Emma, being abused. The two children were berated and ridiculed. One kid for damaging his room, and,.in another case, was  told that he would be going to live somewhere else.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation earlier this year, and charges were filed against Mike and Heather Martin on  July.27th, 2017.

The videos caused an uproar across the country, and the world. The family claims they were posted as a prank. But Smith says the children who “starred” on the videos were negatively affected. “We were able to secure evaluations from child psychologists that showed they were extremely distraught and that they endured some emotional abuse,” he said. “Based upon that, we thought both Emma and Cody were negatively impacted by these treatments and these excessive pranks.”

As part of their probation, the couple cannot post images of Emma or Cody on social media except for “family purposes.”

“They pled guilty, even though it was an Alford plea of guilt that’s  something that they acknowledged that we have enough evidence of their wrongdoing to secure a conviction,”: he said. “So for us, it’s nevertheless a conviction.”

There is pending litigation between the children’s biological mother, Rose Hall, and Mike Martin.
