Good News: Repeat Roses

Normally re-gifting flowers is bad thing!

As an event planner, Jennifer Grove realized that wedding flowers were usually only used for one single day — and then were thrown away.

In hopes of reducing waste and adding value, she started the company Repeat Roses, which takes event flowers, turns them into different arrangements — and then donates them to people in need.

The new arrangements get delivered to hospitals, hospices and homeless shelters, anywhere someone’s life could use a little brightening.

The company then collects the flowers again so they can be composted and enrich the soil, instead of just thrown in a landfill.

The work Repeat Roses does ends up putting smiles on the faces of many people … and also gives a boost to the environment by reducing waste. (ABC News)

A Family’s Old, Deaf Dog Stayed with Their Missing Three-Year-Old for 16 Hours

Max!

A three-year-old girl in rural Australia went missing last week near her grandparents’ house.  It turned out she went looking for her mom . . . took the family’s dog Max with her . . . and couldn’t find her way back.

Her family realized she was gone around 5:00 P.M. on Thursday.  Then it got dark.  So it prompted a massive search-and-rescue mission with two helicopters.  But they couldn’t find her, and she was gone all night.

Now, obviously there’s a lot of wildlife to worry about in Australia.  There are a million different things that can kill you there, let alone a three-year-old KID.  So her family was freaking out.

But fortunately, her grandmother found her TWO MILES from their house the next morning, about 16 hours after she’d gone missing.

And she was totally fine . . . possibly because the dog STAYED there and guarded her all night even though he’s 17 years old, deaf, and partially blind.

Apparently the girl wasn’t even traumatized by it.  She told her family it wasn’t a big deal.  She just got kind of tired, so she curled up with Max and took a nap.

Fitness Vlog – 04/20/18 “The Wall”

Fitness Vlog! I hit the wall real hard for the first time since I started training here. This week was about rebuilding confidence and smashing through a couple of things I didn’t know I could do! I couldn’t do a squat back in February when I started here and now I just busted out a 150 of them with CJ!

I am so excited that being #FitAt33 is happening! I would love to find out how you’re staying fit as well. Let me know some workouts or exercises in the comments that you love!

{Katie’s Kitchen} No Bake Energy Balls

Brought to you by the Kitchenette

Looking for something quick and healthy? Make it your breakfast or an afternoon snack, these Energy Balls with be a quick “go-to” that you will want to stock up on each week!

They’re so easy, super healthy and incredibly yummy!

Once you get all the ingredients for this all you have to do is mix it all together! Take 1 cup of dry oatmeal, 1/2 cup chocolate chips (I used the less sweet kind), 2/3 cup coconut flakes, 1/3 cup honey, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 tbsp. of chia seeds, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup of ground flaxseed.

After your mix everything together in your bowl  (I recommend using the ‘Spoonula’ that I got from the Kitchenette, it makes it so much easier and doesn’t stick like a regular spoon), then you’re going to put the bowl into the refrigerator and let it sit for 30 mins.

Once you take it out, scoop out 1 inch balls and roll them and place them into a container and keep in the refrigerator.

Ingredients:

-1 cup dry oatmeal

-1/2 cup chocolate chips

-2/3 cup coconut flakes

-1/3 cup honey

-1/2 cup peanut butter

-1 tbsp. chia seeds

-1 tsp. vanilla extract

-1/2 cup of ground flaxseed
