Frederick, Md. (DG) – A North Carolina man will spend more than a decade behind bars after being caught bringing fentanyl into Maryland.
The Frederick County States Attorneys Office is reporting on Tuesday 46-year-old Xerxus Belvin was sentenced to 16 years in prison for possessing a large amount of fentanyl and cocaine – and for importing fentanyl into the state.
The charges stem from an early-morning traffic stop on Route 15 in Frederick County back on April 25th. Deputies say Belvin was acting suspicious, prompting a search of his vehicle.
Inside, officers discovered about 1,000 grams of fentanyl, 500 grams of cocaine, and more than $3,000 in cash.
