He had gotten of his van following a crash when he was struck.
Gaithersburg, Md (KM) One person was killed in a pedestrian accident near Rockville Wednesday morning.
According to Montgomery County Police, Earl William Smith, 43, of Clinton, was operating his van along Muncaster Mill Road and Norbeck Road when it hit a sign. That caused the van to become disabled in the median. Smith got out of his vehicle, and was struck by a BMW 328i traveling eastbound along Muncaster Mill Road near Norbeck Road.
Fire and rescue personnel responding to the scene pronouned Smith deceased. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
The investigation into this incident is continuing, and anyone who has information regarding this collision is asked to contact detectives with Montgomery County Police Crash Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. .
