Man Arrested Following Burglary In Woodsboro

Frederick Md. (From Frederick County Sheriff’s Office) – “On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 7:50am, deputies were dispatched to the 11,000 BLK of Cash Smith Road for a reported trespassing complaint. While on the scene another call was received for a Burglary in Progress in the 300 BLK of Copper Oaks Drive in Woodsboro. Deputies responded to that location and established a perimeter.

A white male was observed inside the home that was not an owner or occupant. Entry was made into the
home and the white male was located hiding in the laundry room and was taken into custody. The
investigation revealed that the white male was also the individual observed trespassing at the residence
of the original Cash Smith Road call.

The subject was identified as James Abraham Prevatt III, 42, No Fixed Address.

Mr. Prevatt was transported to FHH for a medical evaluation and while at the Hospital attempted to
escape by climbing through the ceiling tiles of a bathroom. Upon release from the Hospital Mr. Prevatt
was transported to Central Booking and charged with the following:

3 counts of Burglary
2 counts of Theft
False Statement to Law Enforcement
2 counts of Destruction of Property
Obstruct-Hinder Law Enforcement
Escape from Confinement
Trespass

The Sheriff’s Office received assistance during the arrest from the Frederick City Police K9 Unit.”
