Police say additional suspects are still being sought.
Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – Montgomery County Police have arrested an 18-year-old Hyattsville man in connection with an armed carjacking that happened earlier this summer in Silver Spring.
Detectives say the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on June 30 at the Exxon station in the 10200 block of New Hampshire Avenue. According to investigators, several suspects in a dark-colored SUV blocked a Honda Accord at a gas pump. The victim was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint, and the suspects left the scene in both the Honda and the SUV.
Through investigative work, detectives identified Amilio Xavier Hernandez as one of the suspects. A warrant was obtained charging him with armed carjacking and related offenses.
Hernandez was arrested on September 10 in Hyattsville and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
