Hagerstown Man Gets !9 Years For 2nd Degree Rape

Frederick, Md (KM) A Hagerstown man is off to prison for sexual abuse of a minor.   In Frederick County Circuit Court on Monday, Nicholas Wayne Summers, 42, was sentenced to 40 years for two counts of  2nd-degree rape .with all but 19 years suspended. He will serve five years of specialized sex offender supervision when he gets out.

He must have no contact with the victim, and no unsupervised contact with minors. Along with that he will be subject to lifetime sex offender supervision, and lifetime registration as a sex offender. . Summers is also subject to internet and GPS monitoring, and he’s prohibited for possessing any and all firearms.

The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says in May, 2023, a Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call for a sexual assault of a minor. The victim’s mother told the deputy that her child made a social media post about a traumatic incident the child experienced in the past. The mother said her child told her that Summers committed sexual assault on the child in Montgomery and Frederick Counties over a three-year period.

“The year-long collaboration between Frederick County Sheriff’s Office detectives and the State’s Attorney’s Office brought justice  to the victim and  the victim’s family today. We will cotinine to hold predators accountable in Frederick County,” said State’s Attorney Charlie Smith, in a statement.

Prosecutors say the sentence resulted from a binding plea agreement between the State and the Defense.
