Frederick Man Sentenced For Sex Abuse Of A Minor, Attempted 2nd-Degree Rape

He must also register as a sex offender for life.

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man was sentenced on Monday for sex abuse of a minor and attempted 2nd-degree rape.   In Frederick County Circuit Court,  Jose Nelson Guerra-Sanchez, 26, was given 25 years in prison with all but nine years suspended.  He will be placed on five-years supervised probation after he’s released,  and must  have no contact with the victim or any minor children.

In addition, Guerra-Sanchez must submit to psychosexual evaluation and must follow all recommendations.. He’s required to register for life as a sex offender, and is subject to life time sex offender supervision.

The State’s Attorney’s Office says on February 14th, 2023, a Frederick Police Detective responded to a call for a delayed report of sexual abuse.   An investigation was conducted which included a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center. Authorities determined that Guerra-Sanchez abused the victim when that person was 14 years of age, and the defendant was 23.

Guerra-Sanchez was convicted on April 9th, 2024 of sex abuse of a minor and attempted 2nd-degree rape following a bench trial in front of Circuit Court Judge Richard Sandy.
