Fire That Damaged Apartment Building In Frederick Ruled Accidental

Frederick, Md (KM) Fire fighters rushed to the scene of an apartment building fire in Frederick Friday afternoon.

According to the Frederick Scanner Facebook page, the call went out to the South Street School Apartments at the Intersection of  West South Street and Broadway Street at around 2:37 PM. Fire fighters arriving at the scene saw heavy smoke coming from the three-story building. There was an active fire on the third floor and the roof.

A rapid intervention dispatch and a fire task force were requested. . Personnel had the fire under control  at around 3:01 PM, but continued checking for hot spots.

There were eight apartment units in the three-story building, and fire officials say all occupants got out safely. They are being assisted by the Red Cross. .

Fire officials say the cause was accidental due to unattended cooking, Damage is estimated at $400,000

No injuries were reported.

Fire and rescue personnel  starting clearing the scene just before 6:30 PM.
