Damage In Montgomery County Due To Tornadoes

Gaithersburg, Md (KM) Tornadoes swept through Montgomery County late Wednesday afternoon bringing down trees and causing power outages. .

Multiple news agencies report a twister was spotted in Germantown,. Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, Olney and Boyds. A picture from a resident in Poolesville shows a large, dark cloud in the sky, with a twister touching down at a polo field. A tornado was also seen along Route 107 or Whites Ferry Road. .

The tornado crossed I-270 and into Gaithersburg. Damage was reported with several trees coming down. In one case, media outlets say five people were trapped in a home after it collapsed. They were rescued. One person was taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries.

There was a tornado warning in Frederick County on Wednesday afternoon, but no twisters had been reported.
