It’s G.I. Joe Day! Did You Ever Play With That Toy?
Today is G.I. Joe Day!
I love G.I. Joe. Â I was one of seven kids in my family, and we always had plenty of G.I. Joes and Barbies around. Â My sisters and I also had plenty of Ken dolls too but we preferred Barbie date G.I. Joe instead.
Here are interesting facts about G.I. Joe.
This iconic toy first arrived on store shelves in 1964.
G.I. stands for Government Issue.
The name G.I. Joe itself came from a 1945 American war film called The Story of G.I. Joe, starring Ernie Pyle and Robert Mitchum.
The success of the Barbie doll inspired G.I. Joe’s creator, Stan Weston, to create a male military version of the girl’s toy,
Due to rising cost of plastic, Hasbro made the action hero smaller. G.I. Joes were shrunk to 12 inches in 1976.
There are over 500 different G.I. Joe characters.

It’s National ‘Eat Brussel Sprouts Day’ – Are You Celebrating?
It turns out – January 31st is ‘Eat Brussel Sprouts Day’. Â I didn’t know it existed, but it got me thinking, does anyone eat those small green looking cabbages?
Brussels sprouts are rich in many valuable nutrients. They are an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin K. They are a very good source of folate, manganese, vitamin B6, dietary fiber, choline, copper, vitamin B1, potassium, phosphorus, and omega-3 fatty acids.
An 80g serving of sprouts contains four times more vitamin C than an orange.
There are more than 110 different varieties of sprouts. Â If you steam Brussels sprouts you will receive some special cholesterol-lowering benefits.
So, why do so many people hate brussel sprouts? According to a study by Cornwall College, it could be in our genes. Â Their research found that brussel sprouts contain a chemical, similar to phenylthiocarbamide, which tastes bitter to some people who have a variation of a certain gene. Â Wish my parents knew that before they forced me to eat the green globes as a child!

Burger ATMs and other nonsense
Shout outs to Melissa (aka Millennial #1) for sending me this crazy story about a one day only Burger ATM that McDonald’s is using to remind us kids that the Big Mac is a thing. I am still debating if paying with your twitter handle instead of money is some kind of statement or new age branding. The real reason they are doing this stunt and releasing two new Macs is that a ton of millennials have never eaten one.
Note: The burgers aren’t called the Mini-Mac and Mega-Mac. It is the Mac Jr and the Grand Mac. I will stay in my own MEGA MAC reality. Thank you very much.

The commercials for the Super Bowl 51 are starting to get revealed. Â My favorite so far is the new Mr. Clean commercial.
This is the first time Procter & Gamble has had an ad for Mr. Clean in the Super Bowl. Â This commercial is sure to please the ladies. Â The 30-second commercial features a bald and muscular Mr. Clean.
I am a little OCD with cleaning- so I LOVE this commercial. Â Check out the new version of an iconic commercial figure!
