The ‘Get Out’ Challenge – Have You Seen It?

It’s the latest challenge that’s sweeping the country!  The ‘Get Out’ Challenge.

Just like in the movie – the #GetOutChallenge has people running toward the camera at full speed before turning away at the last minute.  I am sure it will be only a matter of time before my kids do this to me!

Check it out.

Here is what talked about on the air! ACM Winners, Brantley Gilbert, Luke Bryan & More!

MAREN, JON, BROTHERS OSBORNE: Early ACM Winners

Brothers Osborne, Maren Morris and Jon Pardi are the winners of the ACM’s New Artists of the Year awards. The announcement of the early winners was made this morning.

The New Vocal Duo or Group winner, the New Female Artist winner and the New Male Artist winner have earned performance spots on the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards on April 2nd. They join a bill that includes Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line with The Backstreet Boys, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town.

Luke and Dierks host the awards, which will air live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on CBS.

BONUS VIDEO: Luke Bryan Orders a Gyro with Fallon

Luke Bryan tried to grab a bite to eat with Jimmy Fallon in a music video for last night’s Tonight Show, but he ran into a very common problem when trying to order food at a New York food cart. He doesn’t know how to pronounce “gyro.”

THOMAS RHETT: Living Up to Fan Expectations

It’s well known that Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren have one of the cutest relationships in country music. Fans look forward to seeing the happy couple in each of his music videos, but that may change in the future.

Thomas Rhett: “I kinda put myself in a hole the first time I put Lauren in a video because I feel like my fans are now like, ‘Well, why is she not gonna be in all of your videos?’ And I’m like, ‘Cuz she does not want to be.’ She hates being the center of attention. And so, anytime I bring her onstage, or I say her name at a concert, she gets really shy.”

RANTLEY GILBERT: Moment of Revelation

Brantley Gilbert has been sober for more than five years, but he will never forget the moment he decided to make this life change and go to rehab. He and his band were busy celebrating one of his career milestones, when Brantley started thinking about his life and habits.

Brantley Gilbert: “I remember sitting in the very back lounge of the bus going, ‘Man, when good things happen, I’d celebrate but I don’t know that I actually ever took it in.’ Eventually, after about two hours of just sitting there thinking, I called my manager, and I was like, ‘Hey man I need to find a gap in my schedule. I need to make space for something.’”

The Snow Is Here – Welcome Winter Storm Stella – NOT!

Last week it was sunny and 70 degrees.  This morning on ‘Pie-Day’ it’s 32 and snowing!

Mother Nature has definitely thrown us curve ball inviting Winter Storm Stella into the Mid-
Atlantic region.  Central Maryland could receive over 12 inches of snow, and areas west 6-10 inches.

Blizzard warnings have been issued for parts of eight states in the Northeast, including New York City. Stella is poised to dump more than a foot of snow with strong winds, leading to major travel disruptions at airports and on roadways.

If you put away your winter gear in February and are ready for spring, don’t fret!  This weekend temperatures in Maryland will reach into the 50’s.  Showing us once again that Mother Nature is a little ‘crazy’.

Entertainment Update – 03/13/17

Here is what we talked about today. Hear what we cared about before the great snowfall of 2017.

THOMAS RHETT: Parenting Advice from Dierks Bentley

Thomas Rhett is gathering as much parenting advice from his fellow country stars as he can. So far, his favorite words of wisdom came from Dierks Bentley.

Thomas Rhett: “Dierks said, ‘Don’t be afraid if you drink four Red Bulls a day. There’s nothing you can really do to get ready for it. You can read books, and you can talk to me as much as you want, but you’re gonna be a different parent than I am, just like I’m gonna be a different parent than you are. So, I think the best advice is just kinda take it as it comes, and just realize that you’re gonna be exhausted.’”

KEITH URBAN: Reveals His Greatest Accomplishment

Keith Urban has one of the best track records in country music. With 22 number-one singles under his belt and multiple awards on his shelves, country’s favorite Aussie has a list of accomplishments that could go on for miles. But what he considers his greatest accomplishment of all has nothing to do with music.

Keith Urban: “Marrying Nic… Because everything good in my life that’s happened came after that. Sobriety, having children, everything started to come after that. So, that, hands down. Marrying her.”

Heavy Snow On The Way – Be Careful Shoveling!

Our area may receive up to 12 inches of heavy – wet snow over the next two days.

Health experts are warning shoveling this snow could be dangerous.  Heart attacks become more of a risk during strenuous snow-shoveling because heart rates and blood pressure spike while cold air constricts blood vessels, and the amount of oxygen received by the heart decreases.

To avoid a trip to the emergency room – here are some tips for shoveling in this type of weather :

  • If you experience pain of any kind, stop immediately and ask for help
  • Choose a snow shovel that is right for you!  Be sure that your shovel has a curved handle, with an appropriate length handle.  A plastic shovel blade will generally be lighter than a metal one.  That will put less strain on your spine.
  • Push the snow, do not lift it. Pushing puts less strain on the spine than lifting.
  • Be sure your muscles are warm before you start shoveling. Cold, tight muscles are more likely to sprain or strain than warm, relaxed muscles.
  • Never throw snow over your shoulder.
