National Clean Up Your Room Day

Today is National Clean Up Your Room Day!  A day parents love but kids hate.

There are two good reasons why you should have a clean room.

1.)  A clean room makes you happier.  According to a study in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletinwomen whose homes were described as cluttered and full of unfinished projects were depressed, tired, and stressed out.  Women with organized, clean homes say they sleep better.  They also describe their homes as restorative and restful.

2.)  Clean rooms lead to exercise.  A study in 2013 of nearly 1,000 people showed those with the cleanest were most likely to exercise!

Two good reasons for a clean room.  Now parents just have to convince their kids!

Former Bachelor Chris Soules Charged With a Felony (and More Hollywood Headlines)

Former Bachelor Chris Soules has been formally charged with a hit and run, a felony.

The reality star is accused of leaving the scene of an accident that killed 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher last month. Chris is believed to have crashed his truck into the back of the tractor Mosher was driving.

Authorities also believe that Chris may have been drinking before the accident.

He’s set to appear in court later this month. (NY Daily News)

Other Hollywood Headlines today:

Richard Simmons is suing American Media for claiming he was transitioning to become a woman.

In his lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the fitness guru says The National Enquirer and Radar Online knew the story was false but figured Richard would never sue because it would make him appear unsympathetic to transgendered people.

He claims a former associate was selling the stories and that the person has been blackmailing, extorting and stalking him for years. Simmons says the extortion plot led him to retreat from the spotlight.

Chris Rock confessed to Rolling Stone that he cheated on his now ex-wife with three women: “One famous, one semi-famous, and one a member of the retail class.”

A source told the New York Post that the famous person is Kerry Washington. Now that’s a Scandal.

Kerry and Chris co-starred in the 2007 movie I Think I Love My Wife. The source said, “He was cheating on his wife with Kerry for like six months. Ironically, that’s when they were filming about Chris having fantasies of cheating on his wife.”

In the movie, Kerry played the side chick. She’d just ended a three-year engagement to actor David Moscow. When asked about the long-ago affair, he was very tight-lipped, saying “No comment.”

What Mom Really Wants For Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and are you wondering what to get her?

RetailMeNot did a survey to find out what mom really wants and compared that information to what mothers actually received. The results are interesting!

Spa Day – 18% of moms asked for this, and 4% received it as a gift.

Nice Meal – 15% of moms surveyed wanted this for Mother’s Day, and 11% received a nice meal on their special day.

Gift Certificates – 14% of moms asked for this, and 18% received gift cards.

Jewelry – 10% of moms wanted jewelry, and 9% received it.

Day Off From Kids – 10% of moms wanted this on Mother’s Day, and 2% received this gift.

All of those ideas are wonderful gifts, but my favorite thing to do on Mother’s Day is go to Hershey Park.  Everyone in the family loves to ride all the rides at Hershey Park.  The food is great so I do not have to cook or clean.  Most of all – I get to be with my kids all day long.  That is the BEST gift of all.

Rascal Flatts

When it comes to dirty jobs, Rascal Flatts have certainly had their fair share.

Rascal Flatts talk about their worst jobs.

Joe Don – “One of the worst jobs I had was with a floor cleaning business. I had to work at night. Started at midnight, and you literally would just go clean those floors, buff and shine, and bathrooms, janitorial stuff. I’d do that on Monday nights and Wednesday nights when I was in college because I had Tuesdays and Thursdays off.”

Gary – “Ain’t it funny that all three of us did janitorial work?”

Drake White

When Drake White has some time to himself, he heads outside to find a bit of spirituality.

Drake White talks about the importance of outdoors. “The outdoors has a spiritual element to me that I can get really close to my Maker in the outdoors and I can feel it. It’s one of those things I’ve always been able to do since I was a young boy. So the outdoors are what makes me go. It’s as important to me as the element of music.”
