The Job Never Stops When You’re a Teacher! {Good News}

TEACHER GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP STUDENT GRADUATE

It’s often said that a teacher’s job isn’t done when they leave the classroom, and one Georgia teacher is a perfect example of that.

Personal issues prevented 19-year-old Jamias Howard from attending classes in his final semester of high school and it looked like he wouldn’t graduate. Then Kimberly Wimbish stepped up. The special education teacher met up with Jamias after school at a library, a park and even a Burger King for private tutoring. She taught him the entire curriculum and graded his work.

When Kimberly found out that Jamias would have enough credits to graduate, she exploded with excitement and couldn’t wait to tell him.

Kimberly drove to Jamias’ house and presented him with his graduation cap and gown. She told him he was graduating this Saturday and needs to be at rehearsal. His reaction was priceless. (ABC News)

Tom Cruise Confirms Top Gun Sequel

Tom Cruise is feeling the need… the need for more speed.

The actor has confirmed that a sequel to his 1986 hit Top Gun is in the works. He appeared on an Australian morning show and was asked about the long-rumored sequel to which he revealed, “It’s true,” adding “It is definitely happening.” The 54-year-old, who played Navy pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the original movie, says filming will begin sometime next year. It’s not clear what his role will be in the film, whether he will still be flying jets or perhaps advising younger pilots. (UPI)

Some High School Pranks NOT Funny!

On Wednesday afternoon at Jefferson High School in Jefferson County WV, a 15 yr old student decided to light a smoke bomb in a hallway.  The school was evacuated for over an hour while the smoke cleared out.

No one was hurt and police are investigating.  School officials say the incident was intended as a prank, and disciplinary actions will be taken.

As a mother – I saw this video and thought why are ALL those kids capturing the smoke bomb on their phones instead of trying to put it out!

I know high school pranks happen – but – this could have ended badly!

James Bond Actor Roger Moore Dead at 89

Sir Roger Moore, the British actor best-known for playing James Bond, has passed away after losing his battle with cancer. He was 89.

A statement released by his family reads, “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer. The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone.”

Moore was the third actor to play secret agent James Bond and appeared in seven films including Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me and A View to a Kill. Moore’s career started on British television in the ’50s. He got his big break in 1962 when he was cast as Simon Templar on the long-running series The Saint. In 1972 he accepted an offer to play James Bond in Live and Let Die and went on to become the longest-serving actor to play the role.

In his later years, he devoted his life to humanitarian work and became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991. He was later knighted by the Queen for his charitable work. Moore is survived by his wife and three children. (BBC)
