HBO snagged 111 nomination for this year’s Emmy Awards, the most of any network for the 17th year in a row. Westworld led with 22. The network’s other top nomination-getters were Veep, Big Little Lies and The Night Of.
Alec Baldwin‘s Donald Trump impression powered Saturday Night Live into a tie with Westworld as the most nominated show. Alec scored a nom for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, while Vanessa Bayer, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon got nods in the women’s category.
This year’s surprise nominees included Baskets star Zach Galifianakis (getting his first nomination for a lead acting role); Billy Eichner‘s Billy on the Street (best variety sketch series category); Chance the Rapper for “Last Christmas,” a.k.a. “Jingle Barack,” a song he co-wrote for Saturday Night Live; and Shannon Purser, who played Barb on Stranger Things.
Snubs include Oprah Winfrey for The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show, Transparent, Rami Malek (who won the lead actor trophy last year), Lena Dunham for Girls and Dancing With the Stars.

According to daysoftheyear.com, the purpose of Shark Awareness Day is not to stand on the beach and shout out warnings to terrified swimmers and surfers, despite the hours of innocent fun that can provide.
It’s true that sharks are impressive hunters and predators, yet the sad fact remains that these magnificent creatures are more threatened by people than we are by sharks. The worldwide demand for shark-fin soup, shark-tooth medallions, and a false sense of security on beaches everywhere, all combine to leave sharks persecuted and endangered, with millions of them being killed each year.
Like top predators in any ecosystem, sharks play an essential role in keeping the seas healthy and productive. Whilst no-one is suggesting we go out and hug a Great White on Shark Awareness Day, it’s the least we can do to respect these wonderful creatures and let them be.

ALLSTATE INSURANCE SURPRISES FAMILY WITH VOICE OF THEIR LATE FATHER
A California man recently got married and had the greatest surprise guest ever – his late father.
Gina Rae Witt was trying to think of the best gift she could give to her brother, David Patinella, and totally nailed it.
Their father, Guisto Patinella, died in 1994 after a long battle with cancer. They have plenty of photographs of him, but no videos and no audio. But then something suddenly occurred to Gina.
The family had always heard about an Allstate insurance TV commercial that Guisto had appeared in back in 1971, but no one had ever seen it because it didn’t run for very long.
So Gina decided to write a letter to Allstate explaining that she was trying to find out if the commercial actually existed, and if it did, would they send it to her.
Much to her surprise, Allstate went through their archive and tracked it down. They then sent a copy to Gina, who surprised David on the eve of his wedding day.
David says, “I’m going to watch it a million times. I love it. It’s so great. Best present ever.”
Allstate was so touched by Gina’s letter that they produced this video. (Today.com)
Sadly, a Marine from Frederick died in the line of duty Monday in a plane crash in Mississippi.
Lynda Kundrat confirmed in a facebook post Wednesday that her son , Staff Sgt. William Joseph Kundrat, was killed in the military plane crash in Mississippi.
The Marine Corps just informed us that our Son SSGT William Joseph Kundrat was killed in the plane crash yesterday in Mississippi.
Lynda asked for continued prayers and said she was grateful for everyone who offered condolences.
