Next month, the U.S. Olympic team will head into the opening ceremony in Pyeongchang dressed in red, white and blue and staying warm in single digit temperatures.
Ralph Lauren, has reportedly designed the opening and closing ceremony uniforms for the USA athletes and they’re all fitted with a built-in “heating system.” Just the press of a button inside the coat and the coat immediately warms up.
Also! This is pretty cool…Ralph Lauren is launching a social media campaign called “Heat the Way for Team USA” and says they will donate $1 for every post “liked” on social media with the hashtag #HeatTheWayForTeamUSA” up to $100,000.
So what do you think about the uniforms?! Start liking!
A pizzeria in New York is trying to combat the “Tide Pod Challenge”, by offering pizza bites that look like the poisonous laundry detergent.
Vinnie’s Pizzieria in Brooklyn has the calzone pockets tuffed with pepperoni, mozzarella and ricotta. Mozzarella cheese strips and some food coloring create the look of the orange-and-blue swirl of the Tide laundry detergent pods.

This interview started with an email from my father, “I know a guy you should talk to.”
William F. Raub, Ph.D. is the former head of NIH (National Institutes of Health) along with the many other achievements and roles from his 42-year career in the Federal Government. The interview covers his early research, an overview of pharmaceutical regulations, and how he ended up working with my father. Fun fact: I learned new stories about my father while doing this interview.
Being an old school guest, William doesn’t have a social media footprint. I google a few articles/pages about him so that I could have a links section.

Parts of the deep South have experienced some extreme winter weather this week, which created hazardous conditions on the roads. Icy roads made things very dangerous in a town near San Antonio so police did everything necessary to keep drivers off the roads — even going so far as to write someone a note explaining why he had to stay home from work.
The Seguin Police Department warned residents on Facebook about the hazardous road conditions and said only “essential services” employees are allowed to drive. But one resident named Justin Garcia was concerned about missing a day of work and half-jokingly asked, “Can y’all write me a note for work?”
Much to his surprise, the department was happy to oblige. They wrote, “Dear Justin’s Boss, The roads are bad and are going to get worse. Much worse. Please let him stay home, warm and safe and enjoy some Hulu or some cool shows on Netflix. And, he needs a raise. He rocks.”
The note worked. Garcia later commented that he was given the day off.

Let’s get healthy with this delicious tomato vegetable soup!
I got this recipe from my sister-in-law who, got it from a friend! I love sharing delicious recipes and everyone in the family has fallen in love with this easy toss in the pot, last all week, soup.
Perfect for this time of the year when you’re looking for something that’s easy to make and then you can eat it all week long…and it’s healthy!!
You’re going to peel and cube a sweet potato, chop a carrot, and chop a white onion. Then, add in vegetable juice, 32 oz. less sodium beef broth, can of whole green beans and a bag of frozen soup mix vegetables. That’s it! Bring it to a boil and then simmer until the vegetables are tender with a fork.
We did add a slice of bread on the side for dipping (not for health reasons) 😉
Ingredients:
-Tomato Juice (64 oz)
-Less Sodium Beef Broth (32 oz.)
-1 can whole green beans
-1 onion (white/ yellow chopped)
-1 sweet potato, peeled and diced
-1 bag of frozen soup mix vegetables
-add in any other vegetables that you want!! I threw in an extra carrot.
Here’s the steps I took in Katie’s Kitchen!!
This is the movie we were talking about this morning. It looks beautiful. Maybe Tom will do a “take” on it!
When you go to CVS and get a receipt that’s three miles long, it turns out they just handed you three miles of POISON.
According to a new study by an environmental nonprofit out of Michigan called The Ecology Center, STORE RECEIPTS could be making you sick. REALLY sick.
They tested a bunch of receipts at grocery stores, restaurants, and major retail chains, and they found that because of the thermal printers the stores use, 93% of their receipts tested positive for the chemicals BPA or BPS.
Those chemicals have been linked to negative effects on your hormones and your metabolism . . . and they’ve even been linked to things like infertility and autism.
And, according to The Ecology Center, 90% of our exposure to those chemicals comes from receipts.
So what should you do? Obviously try NOT to handle receipts . . . but if you do, wash your hands before you eat. And if you work in a store where you’re touching receipts all day long, think about wearing gloves.
