Summer Concert Series

Lana Spence is a vocalist from Hagerstown, Maryland. Her singing career has been in the hard rock, pop/rock genre and most recently, as vocalist for”The Lana Spence Band” a premier Funk/Soul/R&B band based in the Hagerstown, MD area. The development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented family, she was surrounded by a wealth of music as a child. Her mother always had a song to sing as she danced around the house.

After realizing that making music was her main goal, she began to showcase her talent in various venues across the Mid-Atlantic , playing numerous gigs and making sure that her name and singing were being heard by as many people as possible. She was quickly noted for the unique style that she brought to the rock and roll scene throughout the region, and her popularity began to grow.

As her confidence grew and her style developed, she soon gained a loyal following and became a popular local hit in the Baltimore/Wahington area. Her talent with a variety of musical genres only added to her appeal, and her unique vocal sound started to find an appreciative audience. She’s been touted as a “vocal powerhouse” and is respected by musicians and fans alike.

For a brief period, Lana lived in San Diego, California and Hollywood, California.  It was in San Diego that she began singing the blues with the band “Lana and the Leasebreakers”.  The band was very successful in local San Diego and enjoyed top-notch gigs such as the ever popular “San Diego Volkswagon Blues Fest” and opening slots for national acts in venues around the city. The band also enjoyed San Diego television and radio performances and interviews. Lana had the honor of performing a few gigs as lead vocalist for Janis Joplin’s original band “Big Brother and the Holding Company”.

Lana was the vocalist for the area’s premier original blues act, “Moondog Medicine Show” between 2012 and 2016. The band performed at festivals and bars all over the eastern US, from Wisconsin to South Carolina.

Finally, after honing her unique sound over recent years, she is now preparing to showcase her vocal talent in “The Lana Spence Band” with fellow members, Keith Sylvester on bass, Daniel Webber on guitar, Chris Jackson on drums, Cam Millar on trombone, Howard Burns on sax and Adam Hanlin on trumpet.
