Forget Netflix and Chill…we could be soon paying a tax on the streaming service and some states already are.
Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and others may soon have their subscription fees taxed by state and local governments based on as sales tax revenue dips.
“Netflix tax” has already been instituted in Chicago, Pennsylvania and Florida, and cities like Pasadena, Calif. are considering it, according to USA Today.
NY Daily News says, The fees could amount to about $1 each month — but if you’re a subscriber of multiple streaming services, it could be around $50 or more every year.
