It’s National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!

On March 24th – raisins covered in milk chocolate or dark chocolate have their special day of honor.  It’s National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!

There is no gray area when it comes to chocolate covered raisins.  People either love them or hate them.  I do not like those little blobs at all!  But – did you know that these treats are actually healthy?  As much as I hate to admit it, they are!

A 1/4-cup serving of chocolate-covered raisins contains 176 calories and 7.4 grams of fat, 6.6 grams of which are saturated.

Health experts say raisins are a good source of certain vitamins and minerals, even if they are coated in chocolate.

Raisins provide relief from constipation, acidosis, anemia, and fever.  Raisins are good for eye health, dental care, and bone quality.
