October is Pinktober

October is breast cancer awareness month. To commemorate, we are encouraging listeners to help raise awareness of by supporting Pinktober. For the entire month of October we will highlight events around the Frederick area that support research and encourage survivors of breast cancer. You can help by making a donation and attending any of the events listed below.

Pinktober Events

Turn Your Pink On
Entire Month of October– Turn on your outside Pink Light every night in October from 6-8 pm to support Breast Cancer Awareness and Treatment at FMH. Get your pink light bulbs now at Colonial Jewelers, Cousins Ace Hardware, Hobbs Hardware or the Thurmont Municipal Offices. Pink Ribbon 5k
October 5, 2019 9am
Hood College
The 11th Annual Pink Ribbon 5k will be at Hood College on Saturday, October 5. Registration starts at 8 am, Survivor Ceremony at 8:40 and the official race will be at 9. Registration is $35. Proceeds benefit The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at Frederick Memorial Hospital. DETAILS HERE

Sport Riders Unlimited 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Charity Ride
October 5, 2019 12pm
Urbana District Park
Registration is $20/bike with a passenger. The registration opens at 11 am, ride starts at noon. Proceeds go to Breast Cancer at the Cancer Treatment Center of America. Ride is 60 miles through local roads in Frederick REGISTER HERE

Tackle Breast Cancer Charity Flag Football Game
October 12, 2019
Join Gabby and Katie Ryan from WFRE as they go head to head in the flag football game of the year. The Flag Football game will run tournament style. Teams will consist of 11 Players. Proceeds with benefit BCA-CV. We will have a moon bounce, face painting, and much more! You must be 18+ to play, but we welcome all to spectate and join in the fun!

Fighter Run

Town of New Market
The Town of New Market is hosting the 2nd Annual Fighter Run.  This family friendly 5k is raising money for the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at FMH.  Registration is $25.  Registration starts at 8am the day of the event, walk begins at 9am.  Race starts at the Community Park located on East Main Street.  Parking is available on Main Street at the Grange (14 South Alley).  

Bra’s Raise Awareness

Sidebar, Leesburg VA
Bras Raise Awareness Art Show and Auction will take place on Thursday, October 7 at 6 pm. The event will include educational medical vendors, vendors for supports, and an awards presentation to announce the winners of the bra decorating competition. Attendees will have the opportunity to celebrate the stories of breast cancer survivors. Proceeds benefit the Loudoun Breast Health Network. REGISTER HERE

Boots, Bags, and Bling

Join 99.9 WFRE for a ladies’ night out at Stumpy Hatchet House. The event is free to attend, but there will be raffles and games benefitting The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at FMH. Tell Cancer to Take a Hike

Join the hike and climb that mountain in honor of the great journey. Hike is 2.4 miles. The event starts at 10 am in Harpers Ferry at the Maryland Heights trail. REGISTER HERE

Pink Ribbon Gala

The Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund is celebrating 20 years. Join them for a night of entertainment and celebration. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks from Tenth Ward Distilling Company. The event is cocktail attire. All funds raised support the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund. DETAILS HERE
