What is National Night Out?

National Night Out is an annual nationwide community-building campaign designed to strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Founded in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), the event began with a simple idea—encouraging neighbors to turn on their porch lights and gather outside to show a united front against crime. Today, National Night Out has grown into one of America's largest community events, bringing together more than 38 million people in thousands of communities across the country.

The evening promotes positive interactions between residents and first responders while highlighting crime prevention, neighborhood safety, and the importance of working together to build stronger, safer communities.
