WFRE Returns to Celebrate Frederick’s In The Streets Festival
One of Frederick’s biggest traditions is back, and 99.9 WFRE is excited to once again be part of Celebrate Frederick’s In The Streets Festival on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the heart of Downtown Frederick!
Join us at the intersection of Market Street and 2nd Street, where WFRE will once again host an afternoon of incredible country music, community fun, and hometown pride alongside our host partner, Jay Day and The Day Home Team.

Did you know? Long before she became a global superstar, Taylor Swift performed at In The Streets in 2006, making this festival a special stop in country music history!
A Frederick Tradition 40+ Years in the Making
For more than four decades, Celebrate Frederick’s In The Streets Festival has been one of the largest and most beloved community events in Maryland.
The festival first began in 1983 after extensive downtown renovations temporarily closed Market Street. Once construction was complete, then-Mayor Ron Young created a community celebration to welcome residents back downtown and encourage local reinvestment. The idea was simple—hold a festival right in the street—and In The Streets was born.
What started with approximately 10,000 attendees has grown into an annual celebration that now welcomes more than 75,000 visitors each year.
Today, the festival showcases everything that makes Frederick special, from local businesses and restaurants to artists, musicians, community organizations, and family-friendly entertainment.
What to Expect
Admission is FREE, and visitors can spend the day exploring more than eight blocks of activities throughout Historic Downtown Frederick and Carroll Creek.
Festival highlights include:
- 🎤 Live entertainment on multiple stages, including the WFRE Fourth Dimension Fun Center Stage
- 🍔 Delicious food from local restaurants and food vendors
- 🍺 The Craft Beverage Experience featuring regional breweries, wineries, and distilleries
- 🎨 Local artists, makers, and small businesses
- ❤️ Community organizations and non-profit exhibits
- 🏃 The popular Market Street Mile race kicks off the day’s festivities
- 🎶 The Up The Creek After Party keeps the celebration going from 5-9 p.m. at the Carroll Creek Amphitheatre with live music and dancing
