Protect Your Eyes Watching the Eclipse

Looking at the sun during the eclipse without proper eye protection is dangerous and can cause permanent damage to your eyes.

Health experts say exposing your naked eyes to sunlight, for even a few seconds, causes solar retinopathy.

Photic retinopathy is damage to the eye’s retina, especially the macula, from prolonged exposure to solar radiation or other bright light.

The only safe way to look directly at the solar eclipse is through special-purpose solar filters, like eclipse glasses or hand-held solar viewers with the international safety standard code of ISO 12312-2.
