16-Month Old Walkersville Boy Needs Your Help!

Karter is a 16 month old precious little boy who lives in Walkersville,

His parents, Keith and Krista Novak, moved to Maryland from Las Vegas with Karter and his 4 year old sister Khloe to be close to family and start roots in Frederick County. The Novaks recently put a contract on a new home in Walkersville and were preparing for settlement in less than two weeks.

On the evening of Easter Sunday, Karter became ill and was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital. Shortly after being examined the family was informed Karter was showing the signs and symptoms of leukemia. He was immediately prepped and flown to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC for follow up tests which confirmed the diagnosis of AML Leukemia.

Karter has been receiving around the clock care since his arrival at the hospital and has suffered a few setbacks. His internal organs are swollen and he has had to be on dialysis to help his kidneys function properly. He has been intubated to help him breath and is being fed through tubes. Karter started receiving Chemotherapy treatments on Tuesday and has underwent a number of procedures and tests over the past week. This little warrior is a brave fighter but he needs prayers and support as he continues to battle this disease.

The Novak family has remained strong through this devastating ordeal but they are in need of support so they can remain by Karter’s side. Keith and Krista have not been able to work and the hospital expenses are adding up. Their insurance will cover a portion of Karter’s medical costs, but his initial treatment is expected to last several months.

Fundraisers are being coordinated to help the family. Your donations and fundraising support is greatly appreciated. The Novaks are deeply humbled by the outpouring of support from the Frederick community. Please continue to pray for Karter and the Novak family.

There is a GoFundMe page for Karter to help his family. Prayers for this sweet little boy and his family.
