Good News: 1/12/17

Today’s Good News story starts with a prank that ended with a scholarship!

The University of Michigan men’s basketball team recently played a cruel joke on one of its players … but made up for it with a very happy ending.

A campus police officer walked into the team’s meeting on Monday holding a warrant for Andrew Dakich, a senior walk-on hoping to get some playing time. The officer told him he had been named in “a number of ongoing investigations.”

The stunned Dakich, who is known as a clean-cut, church-going type, was then told to gather his belongings and come with them to the compliance office … where he would then sign the papers to be awarded a full basketball scholarship for the winter semester.

His Wolverine teammates roared and congratulated him. The scholarship is worth about $30,000, which his parents have to be very excited about. (CBS Sports)
