Drivers urged to follow restrictions as bridge awaits replacement.
Frederick, MD (JK) – Drivers in Frederick County should be aware of new weight limits on the Hornets Nest Road bridge over Friends Creek. Vehicles are now restricted to under 9,000 pounds, while combination units are limited to 16,000 pounds.
The limits come after a routine inspection found that key parts of the bridge had deteriorated, prompting officials to take immediate action to ensure safety. The bridge is scheduled for replacement in the upcoming fiscal year as part of the county’s Capital Improvement Plan.
