Frederick County high schools compete weekly with a champion crowned in February.

Frederick, MD (JK) – The 44th annual FCPS Academic Tournament will begin January 9 at Frederick High School, bringing together high school teams from across the county for a series of knowledge-based competitions. Matches will mostly start at 6 p.m., with select sessions beginning at 5 p.m.
Each week features a themed competition, including topics such as endangered species, 2000s pop music, Maryland geography, monsters in media, fairytales, the Winter Olympics, Ancient Egypt, Broadway musicals, and psychology.
The championship match is scheduled for February 27 at Frederick High School. Tournament results and weekly updates will be available online. Last year, Urbana won the overall tournament, while Catoctin led the regular season standings.
