Thirty-Four-Year-Old Man Charged in Connection with Fatal Collision

Silver Spring man indicted by Montgomery County Grand Jury in connection with fatal collision.

Gaithersburg, MD- A Silver Spring man has been indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on charges related to a fatal collision.

34-year-old Kenneth R. McFadden Baldwin was arrested by Montgomery County Police on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, on the strength of a warrant charging him with negligent manslaughter by vehicle – gross negligence and criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle.

On Friday, April 28, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue responded to Wightman Rd. at Aspenwood Ln., in Gaithersburg, for a collision involving a red 2017 Ford F-450 tow truck, driven by McFadden Baldwin and a silver 2021 Nissan Versa, driven by 51-year-old Juan Antonio Lamas Salcido, of Gaithersburg.

The initial investigation revealed that the F-450 driven by McFadden Baldwin was traveling north on Wightman Rd., when he struck Lamas Salcido who was attempting to turn left from southbound Wightman Rd., onto eastbound Aspenwood Ln.  Lamas Salcido was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit, detectives discovered that McFadden Baldwin was traveling at least 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.

Mc Fadden Baldwin was released from the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on an unsecured personal bond.
