National Cotton Candy Day!

July 31st is National Cotton Candy Day! A day kids love and parents – not so much!

Here are some interesting facts about the sugary treat!

Cotton candy was first created in 1897 by Dr. William Morrison and candy maker John C. Wharton. They invented a device that melted sugar and blew it through a fine screen to create “Fairy Floss.” The men introduced it at the 1904 St. Louis Fair World’s Fair and sold 68,000 boxes for 25-cents.

Each thread of cotton candy is thinner that a human hair and contains NO fat.
