Local Deputy Injured In An Accident

The WFRE Free Country Wake-Up Crew appreciates the sacrifices made by our military and police officers.  On Wednesday, Deputy First Class Brett Etzler with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was injured in an accident.  He retired from the Frederick County Sherriff’s Office.  Please keep Deputy Etzler and his family in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Two people sent to hospital after three vehicle crash

SYKESVILLE, MD. (DG)-A three vehicle crash on Wednesday morning sent two people to the hospital including a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Police and fire and rescue were sent to Route 32 and Springfield Avenue yesterday morning shortly after 10 AM for three vehicle accident.

Authorities say a Nissan driven by 49-year-old Theodore Ely was traveling southbound on Route 32, when the driver lost control and crossed the center line. The Nissan struck a police cruiser driven by Deputy First Class Brett Etzler who was traveling northbound. The Nissan also hit a Chevy Tahoe driven by 45 year old Ziad Bader.

The force of the accident sent the police cruiser off the roadway.

Deputy Etzler and Ely were both transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
