My One (as opposed to my one five one) Great Frederick Fair.
This is my first chance to really enjoy the Fair. I feel like I've been a part of the Frederick Community since I arrived in February. The people of Frederick have really gone out of their way to make me feel at home since my first day on the air. Now I finally get to see what everyone has been talking about.
This is one AMAZING Fair. This year I'll get to welcome Justin Moore to the stage. Martina McBride opened the Fair with almost two hours of hits on Saturday night. They are both just the latest in a list that sounds like the Country Music Hall of Fame itself. Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Reba, Loretta Lynn, Lady Antebellum, Montgomery Gentry, Hank Williams Jr, The Pistol Annies, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, The Judds, The Oak Ridge Boys and Brad Paisley. These are just a FEW of the stars who have graced our stage at The Great Frederick Fair.
History? Want history? General Dwight Eisenhower visited the fair while running for President. President Grant visited as a hero after the Civil War and enjoyed an evening of harness racing. The fair did miss a few years being cancelled during both the Civil War and WW2. How many communities can say their Fairs have lasted that long. I look forward to meeting all of your there. Stop by and say "Hello." Since 1936 when our sister station WFMD acquired the rights to broadcast all of the latest Fair news our radio personalities have been out here getting to know our listeners. Stop by and let me say "thanks" for making me feel so welcome here in Frederick!!
