» That's My Kinda Song: While Zac Brown may have called Luke Bryan's "That's My Kinda Night" the "worst song I've ever heard," he doesn't speak on behalf of the entire country music community. Jason Aldean had a very different reaction, "I thought it was great," he tells Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton. "I wanted it. I wanted to cut it."Aldean says he realizes, as an artist, not everyone is going to love every decision you make. "I've figured that out over my career. When we put out 'Dirt Road Anthem,' there's gonna be people that are gonna bash you for it. 'Rap has no place in country,' whatever. People either like it or they don't. Hopefully there's a market for it. So I think ['That's My Kinda Night' is] a hit, and I was hoping Luke wouldn't cut it so I could have it."
» Different Strokes: Next to being buds with Duck Dynasty, the hottest thing in country music today is defending country music. "To me country is still about Monday through Friday, and pop is about what happens on the weekends," says Gary Allan, who recently had to explain his position after an interview clip with Larry King was taken out of context. "I feel like we’ve lost our genre," he told King. "You used to be able to turn on the radio and you knew instantly it was a country station just by listening to it. Now you’ve got to leave it there for a second to figure it out ... and not that it's a bad thing. It’s not a bad thing. It’s just different than it used to be." Watch the entire interview here.
