» Silent Night: As the nation grieves the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School, a wide range of Country music artists put their emotions on display and offered sympathy via Facebook and Twitter:
Taylor Swift: "I'm heartsick about the senseless tragedy in CT and praying for the families of the children and teachers who lost their lives. Unthinkable."
Toby Keith: "I have no words. Tragic. The families and the community of Newton, CT are in my prayers - T"
Miranda Lambert: "The world feels sad right now. Everything seems to be full of evil & turmoil. Jesus, come on back!"
Blake Shelton: "My heart is so heavy right now... I can't shake it off."
Josh Turner: "This life can be very ugly sometimes, but I pray that God comforts & heals the people of that town & everyone connected to it."
Faith Hill: "News of this morning's shooting was simply devastating. As parents, Tim & I cannot even imagine the horror that all of these families face."
Hunter Hayes: "My heart is broken for the people of Newtown, Connecticut. Our hearts, our thoughts and all our prayers are with you!"
Brad Paisley: "I spent 15 minutes yelling at the top of my lungs about what happened in Connecticut. I'm as mad as I am sad. Enough. Enough!!!!!!"
» All In The Family: "Country crossover" usually means that a Nashville artist is making it big in the pop world (hellooo, Taylor!), but pop star Kelly Clarkson is flipping that script in a big way. In addition to her new country single "Don't Rush" with Vince Gill, she's about to be come a singer-in-law. That's right, Reba's stepson Brandon Blackstock popped the question to his girlfriend over the weekend. Clarkson broke the news to fans via Twitter: “I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever.” Blackstock, along with his father Narvel, is a part of the management team that represents Reba, Clarkson and Blake Shelton, which leaves very few career options for their first born.
» Ghosts Of Christmas Pasta: One of the best things about the holidays is when adults make their kids do exactly what they used to do when they were a kid. That's called a "tradition" and here are few about food from the world of Country music:
Tim McGraw: “We have pasta on Christmas Eve. That’s always a tradition since I was a kid and we’ve carried it on through our house."
Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild: “Christmases at our house growing up usually included making candy with my mother and my grandmother. We did everything from potato candy to chocolate dipped peanut butter and fudge.”
Luke Bryan: “Our main Christmas tradition is we like to do chili dogs on Christmas Eve.”
Josh Turner: "“My favorite food to eat at Christmas time is probably the fried turkey that my daddy makes every year. He started that several years back, and it became a hit with our family, and so he ended up doing it. He’s been doing it every year since.”
